What do I do if I am concerned about a child?

If you have a concern about a child  it is vital that you share your concern. Information that leads us to be concerned that a pupil has been harmed or is at risk of harm or their welfare is being compromised, we are required to act to ensure action can be taken to protect the pupil concerned.

This means sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child's welfare. To avoid any misunderstanding, it is important that parents/carers inform the teacher if their child has an injury, accident or upsetting experience.

On occasions where other agencies, including social services, need to be involved, it may be necessary to do this before informing parents/carers.

You can contact Miss Cousins who is also the Designated Safeguarding Lead through the school office.

You can also share your concern with Mrs Brierley or  Mr Blackham who are the other Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads. If concern takes place during a school holiday club, please contact Mr George (Deputy designated safeguarding lead) who can be contacted through support@st-scholasticas.hackney.sch.uk

The Designated safeguarding governor is Ms Elaine Radburn who can be contacted through the school office.

 

We follow the London Child Protection procedures. Our school is responsible for the welfare of every child. We may need to share our concerns or issues that relate to the well being of your child. NSPCC - Reporting abuse

If you have a concern about the conduct of adult  it is vital that you share your concern with Mrs Brierley (Ms Cousins or Mr Blackham in her absence). A referral will be made to the LADO (Local designated safeguarding officer) if the threshold has been met. 

If you have a concern about the conduct of Mrs Brierley towards a child please contact the Chair of Governors, Mr Roy Vidal through the school office.
