St Scholastica’s School

Why Choose Us

Although St Scholastica’s Catholic Primary School was founded by the Catholic Church to provide education for children of Catholic families we are open to children and families of all faith and none.

You do not need to be a Catholic to attend our school. We simply ask that all parents are supportive of  the aims and ethos of the school.

If you are looking for a school that promotes Christian values, St Scholastica's could be the school for you and your child.

Our school prospectus outlines the vision of St  Scholastica's and the many wonderful opportunities we are able to offer you and your child.

What do we offer?

From the start, we ensure a welcoming and caring environment awaits your child. This approach ensures, children to settle quickly and form positive relationships with the staff and other children.  Our Nursery, is a safe, caring, friendly and happy learning environment. Starting your child's leanring journey with us ensures they build strong foundations for their future education.

Working in partnership

At St Scholastica’s getting know each child individually is our top priority. We know parents know their child best and we are keen to learn what makes your child unique and special.  We work in close partnership with all our parents to share information about your child’s individual needs.

Parents are warmly invited to take an active role in school life. Throughout the year, there are regular opportunities for parents to get involved. We have parent and carer information workshops, termly parent information meetings, parents’ evenings, stay and read sessions and various other events linked to the school calendar. Use of online platforms such as Class Dojo and Tapestry means parents receive regular updates on their child’s learning and progress.

Learning at St Scholastica's

At Scholastica’s, we are passionate about encouraging children to be independent learners and inquisitive thinkers. Our provision has a host of creative engaging activities, resources and events that are relevant to the children in the class.  Our Nursery and Reception are play-based provisions, as we believe play-based learning encourages children to explore, think creatively and persist, therefore maximising the learning potential for all.

Adults are sensitive to the needs of children and observe, interact, support and extend their play. They are skilled at using effective questioning and developing thinking skills in children. Children entering our Nursery and Reception  will experience a strong focus on language and communication. There are plenty of opportunities talk built into the day. Staff are also trained in using strategies such as Colourful Semantics and Makaton to further support language development.

Children in Nursery, Reception, Years 1 and 2 also have the opportunity to take part in Urban Forest School led by The Garden Classroom. Learn more about the benefits of Forest School by visting their website.
